
Job Description
The Executive Pastor is responsible for the overall leadership of church staff in executing the vision of Victory of the Rock as set by the Senior Pastor and Founding Pastors. The Executive Pastor will serve as the associate pastor and chief administrator while assuming responsibility for oversight in the areas of finance, facilities, human resources, strategic planning, and operations.The Executive Pastor will ensure that our mission to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ (growing in our 3 Vital Relationships) is pursued with clarity, our church family is cared for with excellence, and our resources are managed well. He will fall on the ministry execution side of the Executive Pastor continuum more than the business side. He will ensure that the mission, vision, values and strategies of the church are executed with excellence through staff and volunteers according to our ministry plans and budget. His mandate is to form a close bond of trust with the lead pastor, speak and act as his representative, thereby freeing him to focus on vision, preaching and shepherding. The Executive Pastor will work under the Lead Pastor, the Founding Members, and the church Board.
The Executive Pastor will represent the Lead Pastor, Founding Members of the church, and the church board in all ministries of the church. The Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor must pursue a healthy relationship that allows them to share ministry responsibilities that accurately reflect their strongest gifts. This will bring the highest value to the congregation.
Pastoral Staff Supervision and Development: Responsible for supporting the Senior Pastor in the accomplishment of the church’s mission through ministry effectiveness, discernment, decision making, planning and overall direction of church staff. Responsibilities include:
Staff Relationship
The Executive Pastor is responsible to the senior pastor who will supervise, evaluate, and provide a report to the Personnel Committee
Coordinate and lead staff meetings in partnership with the Senior Pastor and engage in other activities designed to clarify and execute Victory of the Rock Mission and Vision objectives. Facilitate regular meetings with the staff leadership team.
Serve as a staff liaison to the Leadership Team.
Provide leadership in developing strategic plans and setting goals and vision.
Monitor the spiritual health of the congregation and community groups within the Victory of the Rock church.
Ensure staffing, facilities, and programs are appropriately and effectively aligned to meet the strategic goals.
Empower ministry staff to thrive in an ever-changing environment by building supportive, positive relationships so that staff will be able to do what is necessary to serve the needs of the church.
Coach and empower leaders to build systems and teams that effectively capture the growth ofVictory of the Rock.
Guide teams in healthy collaboration to spread the Gospel more effectively throughout Victory of the Rock.
Fulfill other pastoral and administrative duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in strategic planning and staff coordination in the execution of the Victory of the Rock church’s mission and vision strategies with prior success in implementing these strategies.
Those applying should possess a proven track record of organizational leadership, strategic planning, staff evaluation, and development and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must possess a driving passion to reach people who are far from God and to help them grow deeper in their faith. This individual must have a deep level of emotional intelligence, and the ability to work well in a team. They must be skilled at promoting innovation through collaboration. They additionally will show an ability to connect across different generations, types of people, and cultures.

REQUIRED CRITICAL SKILLS, TRAINING AND EDUCATION
A mature, strong, and growing relationship with Jesus, a heart for the local church, and a passion for seeing individuals and families in the Puyallup area be transformed by the Gospel.
Proficiency with computers and software programs
Agrees and aligns with the vision, values, and doctrinal Statement of Beliefs of Victory of the Rock
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
· Ministry-related degree
· Project management certificate or experience.
· Experiencing preaching and teaching within the church
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and will occasionally be required to do some light lifting (up to twenty pounds).
PERSONAL LIFE REQUIREMENTS (POST HIRE)
The Executive Pastor must become a committed member of Victory of the Rock They must pursue an active relationship with Jesus that includes a consistent personal devotional life and prayer. They must be committed to their family, attend church regularly, and live their life in a manner consistent with the Scripture. They must be a part of an Victory of the Rock community.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
experience at the Ministry.
Working knowledge of Planning Center Online and Church Community Builder ( if not we are training you) .
Experience recruiting, training, and leading a high-octane volunteer team.
Experience planning and facilitating training, large events, and retreats.
Experience managing a ministry budget.
